Facts
The
Pacific Dragon Boat Association USA (PDBAUSA)
is the Western Region affiliate of the United States Dragon Boat Federation
(USDBF). The USDBF is a full member of the International Dragon Boat
Federation (IDBF). PDBAUSA:

Was established
on February 6, 1999.

Is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
nonprofit organization, status acquired September 9, 1999.

Current members
include clubs and event organizers in California, Hawaii, Oregon,
Washington, and Nevada.

Has sponsored an
annual regional championship race every year since 1999. A sanctioned
regional qualifier is a requirement in order for crews to send
representatives to the World Dragon Boat Racing Championships
and the Club Crew World international Championships.

PDBAUSA
holds three voting seats on the USDBF National Council.
Benefits of Membership
PDBAUSA
sanctions events that qualify member organizations to compete in IDBF
world championships. There are two:
- The Club Crew World Championships
(CCWC), where clubs race under their own name.
- The World Dragon Boat Racing Championships
(WDBRC), where qualifying clubs are blended with other regional
qualifying teams as part of a national team representing the USA.
Regional club crew championships are
held in odd-numbered years and US National qualifying races are held
in even-numbered years.

benefits of membership include:
- Access to insurance packages tailored
to dragon boat activities and events.

Eligibility to participate
in the PDBAUSA Circuit and
awards program.

Access to communication
channels among PDBAUSA members
through email, online paddler search groups, and the PDBAUSA
website.

An infrastructure
for sport promotion and competition.

Paddler, paddling
organization, and event organizer access to the USDBF National
Council through PDBAUSA
officers.

Opportunities for
personal involvement at the regional level as committee members,
board members, and officers.

The opportunity
to host a regional championship race that sends representatives
to IDBF world championship races.
